So, we request all members(agents) finish registering at MPL within 30 days after this regulation is gazetted.

Male’ Commercial Harbour cleaning program was held on the 03rd January 2015. In this program, a large number of employees including head of division and department took part. Maldives National Defense Force provided support by providing divers to clean the lagoon area around Male’ Commercial Harbour.
Officials from Maldives Ports Limited visited Cochin Port Trust and Vallarpadam Transhipment container terminal officials. Discussion was held on 17th October 2014 at Cochin port Terminal. Participants from Maldives Ports Limited includes, Mr. Mahdi Imad (CEO), Mr. Mohamed Hashim (General Manager), Mr. Hassan Muzni Mohamed (Assistant General Manager) and from cochin port, Mr. K K Krishanadas, CEO, DP World Cochin, Mr.Paul Antony, Chairman Cochin Port Trust took part. Aim of this trip was to explore the opportunities in starting weekly shipping cargo service between Kochi and Male’.
Hence, the objective of these discussions from both sides was to operate a weekly cargo service of 600TEU shipping vessels from Cochin Port to Male’. And in parallel it was discuss on ways to foster just-in-time inventory for Maldives to reduce the cost of imports.
During this meeting, Mr. K K Krishanadas, CEO, DP World Cochin, noted that the Cochin port already began its exploration to find ways which could facilitate regular sailing between Maldives and Cochin. Aim of the exploration was to promote the movement of cargo to Maldives via Cochin port.
The discussions with Mr. Paul Anthony, Chairman of Cochin Port Terminal Trust, also stressed on 100arc Free Trade Warehousing Zone from Cochin port terminal to foster Maldivian trade opportunity.
And also, other areas which was discussed during the meeting includes;
The 28th anniversary of MCH met with the port employees with multiple events scheduled at the stretch a week. A day break congregation, a department greening completion held company wide, a family evening held inside the unique port area. And a grand Gala held brought together the parliament members, government officials, invitees, the port users the employees.
The family evening was held at the west side of Male’ commercial Harbor, open to family members of our working employees and to the public. Chief Guest of this ceremony was the Member of Parliament for Seenu Atoll hulhudhooo constituency, Mr. Mohamed Shahid. CEO, executives.
“MPL Staff night” was held at the west side of Male’ Commercial Harbor. Honored by members of parliament joined by our CEO, the Board directors, invitees from government, port users, top executives and employees.
This evening was opened with the holy verses of Quran recited by assistant finance officer Ms.Mariyam Thahumeena. Introduced and thanked by the head of corporate division Mr. Ibrahim Afzal. CEO gave away Plaques to the customers who had contributed to our success, shields for the Best employees from each department was distributed by the Members of parliament and Board director Mr. Mohamed Shiyam.
A special reception was held to celebrate the anniversary and the hard work, accompanied with music and performing items by the very multi-talented employees of MPL.
The 28th anniversary of Maldives Ports Ltd began with an official assembly held at the head office of Maldives Ports Limited at the early morning hours. The Chief Executive, Board Directors, Executives and Staff members from all departments participated to express their courtesy towards the organization.
The ceremony was opened with, enlightening verses from the holy Quran, followed by both national and MPL’s flags being hoisted by the board of director Mr. Mohamed Shiyam and the CEO, Mr. Mahdi Imad.
The head of Corporate Services Division, Assistant General Manager, Mr. Ibrahim Afzal gave the key speech, Mr Afzal he conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of the management, to all the hard working employees working at Maldives Ports Limited he also acknowledged the roles and the employees contribution to make Maldives Ports Limited a successful organization.
The speech was concluded with instructions about anniversary activities especially the “Greening” challenge between the departments and the “Family Evening” aimed to foster employee’s interaction.
An event was held at the Male’ Commercial Harbour on the 03rd August 2014, to commence the fundraising program which was jointly coordinated by Maldives Ports Limited and the Maldives Customs services to show solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters living in Gazza, Palestine. Tag line of this program was pronounce as “Alhuganduge Maskkathuge Eh’dhuvahuge Ujoora Gazza ah” (I donate a day ‘s wage of my work to Gazza). In this ceremony top executives and many staff from both the organizations took part. Aim of this program was to encourage employees from both the organization to contribute one day’s wage of their work to provide humanitarian relief for the victims living in Gazza.
This program was inaugurated by Commissioner General of Customs Ahmed Mohamed and Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Ports Limited Mahdi Imad, both the Customer General and CEO urged all the staff and the port user to take part in the fundraising program. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mahdi Imad thanked Commissioner General of Customs Ahmed Mohamed and the top executives of Maldives Ports Limited for their initiative in this program. As to commence the program both the top executives donated their contributions to help the people living in Gazza, Palestine.
It was planned to place donation boxes at various locations at MPL premises and at the Maldives Customs Services premises in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. And also it was planned to place donation boxes at the two regional port premises for others who wish to contribute their donations to help people living in Gazza, Palestine.
An event was held on the 19th June 2014 at mechanical workshop area, to mark the impending holy month of Ramazan 1435. Board of Directors, Division, Department heads and large number of staff gathered at Mechanical Workshop area for this event.
At this gathering, corporate services division head, Assistant General Manager Mr. Ibrahim Afzal addressed, in his speech he expressed his sincere gratitude on the occasion of holy month of Ramadan and advised to make the best use of the holy month.
And also, plaques and certificates were distributed to the employees who have been nominated as the Best Employees from various departments for the year 2012.Plaques and certificates were distributed by the chairman and the board of directors.
As to commence the distribution of ramazan special gift (canned tuna case), CEO handed over a case of canned tuna to the employee who has served a longer duration in the company.

Maldives Ports Limited Team played against the team of Housing Development Corporation in the Club Maldives Toutnament 2014. MPL’s Team won the match by 6-0 against HDC. This match was played on 04th April 2014, in the playground in front of vilifulus. Many staff were gathered at the playground to cheer up MPL’s team.
MPL’s Team played the second of this tournament on the 07th April 2014 against Ministry of Housing Infrastructure. MPL’s team defeated Ministry of housing infrastructure by 4-0.
Club Maldives tournament is an initiative taken by the Club Maldives and this tournament is held on annual basis. 36 teams from various government offices, Public Limited companies and other state owned companies are competing in this tournament and 9 teams is competing on the 18/30 women’s futsal fiesta.
A ceremony was held at Maldives Ports Limited to mark the “International Women’s Day” on the 08th March 2014. Large number of female staff, head of departments and board of directors attended this ceremony. Chief Guest of the ceremony was Minister of Health and Gender, Dr. Mariyam Shakeela.
Presentation was given in honor of the female staffs who has given their contribution to the company for more than 15 years. And a trophy was handed over to Ms. Aminath Waheedha of Port Complex department for her service at the company for more than 20 years.
In this ceremony, Dr. Mariyam Shakeela spoke to the staff gathered at the ceremony; she highlighted the high consideration made by the Management of MPL to mark this event in honor of all hard working female staff of the company. She also noted that, it was very unique and happy to see the female staff heading at the top level of the company and providing them the required training opportunities, and also noted that, the high involvement of female staff within the company.She also stress on the inequality treatment against female staff and the burden they face both physically and mentally in the current working environment and advice all to treat female staff equally and give them safe working environment. She conveyed her gratitude to all the hard working female staff in the company on the occasion of “International Women’s Day”.
Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed spoke to the gathering on behalf of the Management; he thanks all the female staff working in the company and wishes them all success in the occasion of International Women’s Day. He also noted that, current management of MPL greatly support and encourage female staff to succeed in the career at MPL and all the opportunities waits for them.
