Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) today provided “Joali Fathi” to the stevedores working in the port area.
In a ceremony held in Port Area, CEO of MPL Mr. Mohamed Junaid officially handed over the “Joali Fathi” to the stevedores today.
Speaking to the Media CEO Junaid said that the stevedores working in the port area is in need for a a proper seating arrangement and a resting area. Junaid highlighted that the “joali fathi” provided to the stevedores today will give an ease to the problem.
CEO Junaid stated that MPL is looking to develop an area for the stevedores with proper seating arrangements and highlighted that MPL is negotiating with Housing Ministry to secure an area to develop for the stevedores.
A special ceremony was held yesterday for the official inauguration of Maldives Ports Limited’s Corporative society (MPL Co) and the passenger waiting area of “Meeru Bahuru” Harbor.
Minister of Economic Development Mr.Mohamed Saeed officially inaugurated the shop of MPL Co and the passenger waiting area in a ceremony held at “Meeru Bahuru” harbor yesterday.
Addressing at the ceremony, MPL’s CEO Mohamed Junaid noted that even though MPL Co opened a shop, it does not pose any threat to the local businesses. Mr. Junaid said some businesses have raised concerns about MPL venturing in to the retail business, however it is important to keep in mind that MPL Co’s main aim is to cater to the needs of the staff rather than operating a profitable business. Mr. Junaid noted that MPL Co will provide more services and initiatives for the welfare of the employees.
MPL Co was formed on July 12th, 2016 as an initiative for the welfare and well being of the employees of MPL. MPL Co is an initiative by the CEO of MPL Mr. Junaid.
In addition to the shop, MPL Co will also open a café in “Meeru Bahuru” for the staff of MPL and the general public. The staff of MPL will be provided credit services from both the café and shop.
MPL Co will also offer loan schemes and facilitate Hajj schemes for the staff of MPL.
The newly opened passenger waiting area of “Meeru Bahuru” is equipped with comfortable seating arrangements and a retail shop. Also public toilets and a prayer rooms are also facilitated in the harbor.
Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) donated a computer system and a multi-purpose printer to GA.Kolamaafushi health center today, as a part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)Program.
The computer system and multi-purpose printer was handed over to Kolamaafushi health center by MPL’S CEO Mohamed Junaid in a ceremony held today.
MPL is proud of the company’s CSR program. The company’s management and board will continue the company’s CSR program initiatives in the future
MPL SRC Inter-Department Fishing competition 2016 was held on the 1st May 2016 in Male’ Commercial Harbour area. CEO, Mr. Mohamed Junaid was the chief of this ceremony. Head of Departments and a large number of staff attended the ceremony. 12 teams participated in the MPL SRC Inter-Department Fishing competition 2016. Fishing Competition was officially opened by the CEO, Mr. Mohamed Junaid.
CEO, Mr. Mohamed Junaid addressed the gathering, he conveyed his sincere gratitude to all the participants of this competition. And also, highlighted the importance of recreational activities and wish to see friendly working environment in the workplace.
Winners of this competition was announced at a special dinner night which was held for all the staff of MPL on the 02nd May 2016. Terminal vehicle unit was the first place winner of this competition, Meerubahuru Bandha’ru was the second place winner and Hulhumale’ Terminal was the third place winner of this competition. Trophies and the prizes for the champion team was distributed by the CEO, Mr. Mohamed Junaid. And also, other prizes and trophies were distributed by the department and division heads.
Maldives Ports Limited Team played against the team of Fuel Supply Maldives in the opening match of Club Maldives futsal Tournament 2016. MPL futsal Team won the match by 5-1 against FSM. This match was played on 24th of March 2016, in the playground in front of vilifulus. Many staff was gathered at the playground to cheer up MPL’s team.
A special ceremony was held on the 24th March 2016, to mark the 30years of services of Male’ Commercial Harbour. Ceremony was delighted with the recitation of Holy Quran recited by the company lawyer Mr. Hamid Ahmed. Large Number of staffs including CEO, DCEO, division and department heads were present in this ceremony. And also, an introduction of PLEASE campaign was given by the Chief Manager Mr. Ahmed Athif.
In order to commence 30 years of service celebrations, PLEASE campaign and a healthy breakfast which was prepared from the departments was launched by the CEO.
In this ceremony, CEO addressed the gathering. In his speech he highlighted the importance of healthy breakfast and healthy life style and its benefit for employees work. CEO also stress the importance of launching a PLEASE campaign for the betterment of the Staff and thank MPL sports & recreation club member for the initiative made by them.
Staffs from Maldives Ports Limited took part in the buddy walk which was held on the 21st March 2016. This event was organized by the Beautiful Eyes Down Syndrome of Maldives. Large number of staffs participated in this walk.
A special ceremony was held at Dharubaaruge to mark the “International Women’s Day 2016 “, on the 11th of March 2016. Larger number of female employees, head of departments, invited government officials attended the ceremony. Chief Guest of this ceremony was Mr. Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO.
To mark this ceremony, an art and handicraft exhibition was held for the female employees. And also, a special report and a song was presented. And also a special cake was cut by the chief guest of this ceremony.
Plaque and certificate of appreciation was handed over to Ms. Raziyya Moosa from Cargo Operation Department and Ms. Aishath Hassan from Cargo Operation Department, for their service in the company for more than 20 years. Plaque and certificate of appreciation was handed over to Ms. Fathmath Ali from Human Resource Department and Ms. Fathmath Nashidha from Mechanical Engineering, for their service in the company for more than 20 years. Certificates and plaques were distributed by the chief guest Mr. Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed.
In this ceremony prizes and certificates was distributed for the winners of Art and Handicraft exhibition. Ms. Aishath Hassan from Cargo Operation, was awarded the first place in the exhibition and Ms. Aminath Sidhna from Human Resource Department was awarded second and the third in this exhibition.
In this ceremony, CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed spoke at the gathering. In his speech He conveyed his sincere gratitude to all the hard working female staff in the company on the occasion of “International Women’s Day”. And also, he highlighted the challenges faced by the female workers across the globe. And highlighted the importance of empowering female workers for the beneficial of the society and company. He also noted the importance of creating opportunities for the female employees to work in the leadership and decision making role in the company.
Employees from MPL and HPL participated in the “Kissaru Job Fair” which was held in Addu City from 19-20th February 2016. This event was organized and conducted by the Ministry of Youth & Sports.
Mv. Hawk arrived at Male’ Commercial Harbour on the 18th of February 2016. This ship was carrying important vessels, equipment and machineries for the construction of China – Maldives Friendship Bridge. And the equipment’s and machineries was unloaded by using MPL tug boats and staffs on the 20th February 2016.
